There was much to rejoice and celebrate at The Village at Augsburg throughout 2022. In August, the community commemorated 130 years of service to older adults by hosting a bull and oyster roast that was attended by residents, team members, NLCS board members, donors and community supporters. An additional cause for celebration was the grand opening of The Village at Augsburg’s new Assisted Living Memory Care Neighborhood. The new neighborhood was created by renovating 26 outdated skilled nursing spaces into 13 private memory care suites with an open dining and living area, spa room and an area for resident engagement. The new Assisted Living Memory Care Neighborhood expands Augsburg’s service offering with personalized memory care that supports the abilities, possibilities and authenticity of each resident. The community also celebrated the installation of Rev. Dr. Eric T. Campbell as the community’s new chaplain in September. Musical concerts, holiday events and seasonal gatherings throughout the year meant there was always something fun and festive to experience or explore. The community also hosted a free continuing education event for referral partners entitled “Ethically Handling End of Life Issues with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia” in partnership with Jenerations Health Education. The event was attended by 52 social workers and case managers who were treated to lunch in the Village Bistro followed by tours of the independent living model apartment.
